Lasana Sekou gave workshop in Dominica at literary festival
Great Bay, St. Martin (August 14, 2012)—Lasana M. Sekou returned here on Monday from Dominica where he participated in the Nature Island Literary Festival and Book Fair in Roseau (8/10-12/12). The festival invited Sekou to read his fictions and poetry; and to conduct the workshop on “How to Get Published” with co-facilitator Dr. Irving Andre, said Alwin Bully, director of the book fair. In photo (L-R, front), authors Elizabeth Nunez (Trinidad/USA), Mervyn Morris (Jamaica), and Sekou listen intently with audience members to a riveting passage about corporal punishment in school from In the Castle of My Skin. The selection was read by the very author of the classic book, George Lamming — who was also the keynote speaker at the opening of Dominica’s successful 5th annual literary festival.
