Twee lezingen over Den Haag, Curaçao, slavernij en vrijheid

De Dutch Caribbean Book Club presenteert twee lezingen over Den Haag, Curaçao, slavernij en vrijheid op zaterdag 12 april 2014.

Sprekers
Dr Han Jordaan voert u terug naar de revolutionaire jaren 1795-1800. Een lezing over de invloed van de Franse Verklaring van de Rechten van de Mens op Curaçao én een ontsnapping uit de Haagse Gevangenpoort.
Dr Valika Smeulders gaat in op de lange aanloop naar de afschaffing van slavernij in Den Haag en biedt u een blik achter de schermen van de staat, de kerk en Haags-koloniale familiebanden.

Poëzievoordracht
De Arubaanse dichter Samuel Dumfries draagt voor uit zijn gedichtenbundel Mélange.
Na afloop is er verkoop van boeken en tijdschriften. Wilt u a.u.b. contant geld meenemen?

This evening shall be a relaxed and joyful evening for us to just be ourselves and enjoy the atmosphere of art. There is a bar and they serve food so that should not be a problem.
